Ulcerex Tablets

ULCEREX-150 (Eng)

Each film-coated tablet contains:
Ranitidine (as Ranitidine Hydrochloride) 150 mg

  • Reflux oesophagitis
  • Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
  • Post operative conditions (hyperacidity syndromes)
  • Prevention of ulceration in patients with renal disease after transplantation or undergoing dialysis.

Ulcerex (Ranitidine) is a potent long acting histamine H2 receptor antagonist for the treatment of duodenal and gastric ulcer. It inhibits basal and stimulated secretion of gastric acid, reducing both the volume & the acid and pepsin content of the secretion. Ranitidine has relatively larger duration of action & so a single 150 mg dose effectively suppresses gastric acid secretion for 12 hours.

Hypersensitivity to preparation.

Ulcerex must not be used in case of gastric malignancy, pregnancy
and lactation. A dose reduction is necessary in case of impaired renal and hepatic function.

150 mg twice daily or 300 mg daily for 4-8 weeks. Zollinger Ellison Syndrome, 600 – 900 mg daily in divided doses

Store in a cool, dark & dry place. Keep out of reach of children.

Omeprazole belongs to a new class of gastric acid secretion inhibitors, the substituted benzimidazoles. It is a proton pump inhibitor. Omerex inhibits gastric acid secretions by a unique mechanism and has a quick onset of action. It irreversibly blocks the H+, K+- ATPase enzyme system of the gastric parietal cell. Thus, blocking the final step in gastric acid production. Omerex inhibits both basal and stimulated acid secretions irrespective of the stimulus.

Omerex is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation and in patients with known hypersensitivity to this drug.

Omerex is generally well tolerated. The adverse effects like diarrhoea, skin rashes, headache, nausea, constipation and flatulence may occur occasionally. Symptoms of side effects (if any) should subside after discontinuing medicine. If symptoms persist, please consult doctor.

Before giving Omerex to patients with gastric ulcers, the possibility of malignancy should be excluded since Omerex may mask symptoms and delay diagnosis. Check the expiry on the pack and do not use after expiry date of medicine.
