Each tablet contains :
Metformin HCl USP 500 mg
Metex is indicated in type 2 diabetes i.e. non insulin dependant diabetes mellitus.
Metformin under biguanide class acts as an anti hyper glyceamic agent by improving hepatic & peripheral tissue sensitivity to insulin. Metex (Metformin) performs anti hyper glyceamic activity in three ways – Reduces the amount of glucose produced by the liver, Reduces the amount of glucose absorbed by stomach from the food, increases insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake into cells.
Known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, renal or hepatic failure, alcoholism, patients undergoing surgery, cardiac failure, pregnancy and lactation.
Hypoglycaemia, skin eruption, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, metallic taste in mouth may occur occasionally. Symptoms of side effects (if any) should subside after discontinuing medicine. If symptoms persist, please consult doctor.
Consult the doctor before taking Metformin if you are taking any of the diuretics, antihypertensives, steroids, hormones or MAO inhibitors drugs. Check the expiry on the pack and do not use after expiry date of medicine.
The usual dose of Metex is 1 tablet 2 to 3 times with meal or as directed by the doctor. Dose should not be exceed 4 tablets in a day.
Store in a cool, dark & dry place. Keep out of reach of children.
Metex tablet is available in strip of 10 tablets.
