Glipomin Tablets

Each tablet contains :
Metformin HCl USP 500 mg
Glipizide USP 5 mg

Non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, diabetes with or without obesity in adults.

Glipomin contains Glipizide and Metformin HCl. Glipizide reduces blood glucose levels by correcting both defective insulin secretion and peripheral insulin resistance. Glipizide also increases the sensitivity of beta cells to control glucose. Metformin acts as an antihyperglycaemic agent by improving hepatic and peripheral tissue sensitivity to insulin. Glipizide (Sulfonylureas) & Metformin (biguanides) act complementary to each other. Both compounds have an additive antihyperglycaemic effect without increasing the adverse effects of either pharmacological class. Pharmacokinetically the two drugs appear to be compatible. Hence the combination of Glipizide & metformin would help in treatment of Non Insulin Dependent Diabetese Mellitus (NIDDM).

Known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, renal or hepatic failure, alcoholism, patients undergoing surgery, cardiac failure, pregnancy and lactation.

Hypoglycaemia, skin eruption, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, metallic taste in mouth may occur occasionally. Symptoms of side effects (if any) should subside after discontinuing medicine. If symptoms persist, please consult doctor.

Consult the doctor before taking product of Metformin and Glipizide if you are taking any of the diuretics, antihypertensives, steroids, hormones or MAO inhibitors drugs. Check the expiry on the pack and do not use after expiry date of medicine.
